Bulgaria's government adopts flawed budget, opposition MP demands resignation

Deputy Pavel Popov of the opposition party Democratic Bulgaria told Nova News that the Bulgarian government approved a budget he described as "flawed" with both quantitative and qualitative problems. He highlighted a "massive deficit" and a lack of reforms, criticizing the coalition of GERB and We Continue the Change for supporting the spending proposals. Popov said the parliament should limit additional expenditures and called for the government's resignation, though he noted it is too early for a confidence vote. He also explained that the decision not to sign complaints to the Constitutional Court was driven by the coalition's sufficient votes and concerns about transferring the issue to a slow‑moving institution. Popov warned that the circle of implicated officials is growing and that attempts to shift blame may conceal the underlying case.
