Bulgaria's Health Ministry says state health control reforms will not close existing facilities

The Bulgarian Ministry of Health announced that the upcoming reform of the state health control system will not involve the closure of any working structures. The reform changes only the administrative model, preserving all specialized activities, control functions and expert staff, and leaving health care institutions untouched.

Currently, 28 regional health inspections operate as separate legal entities, creating duplicated administrative positions. The new structure will create three main directorates within the Ministry to take over inspection activities, introduce shared services, digitise processes and apply unified work rules, aiming for more efficient administration without reducing capacity or service quality.
