Bulgaria's National Children's Hospital Funding Excluded from 2026 Budget

The GERB parliamentary group says the 2026 state budget and the three‑year fiscal forecast contain no allocated funds for the National Children’s Hospital, a project it has called a "national priority". The party notes that Prime Minister Rumen Radev pledged on 8 May 2026 to accelerate the hospital’s construction, equipment and staffing, yet those promises are not reflected in the budget.

A legislative proposal introduced by the "Continue the Change" initiative to guarantee financing for the hospital was not adopted. The vote recorded 86 votes in favor, no votes against and 121 abstentions, resulting in the proposal’s rejection. GERB highlighted that this is the first time since 2022 that the budget shows zero financing for the hospital and vowed to continue pressing for the necessary funding.
