Bulgaria's National Revenue Agency reports 40% tax violations in South Black Sea audit

The National Revenue Agency (NRA) intensified its summer audit along Bulgaria's South Black Sea coast, conducting more than 2,200 inspections that uncovered roughly 700 tax violations. In the Burgas region alone, over 1,200 checks revealed about 500 breaches, pushing the violation rate above 40%.

The most frequent infractions were failure to issue cash receipts, discrepancies in cash register balances, and missing mandatory data on receipts. As a result, the NRA placed 25 establishments under continuous monitoring, 20 of which are in Burgas, including two large music festivals. For the festivals, the agency has performed full inventory checks and will compare sold quantities with reported turnover after the events conclude. NRA spokesperson Christo Uzunov said, "In the Burgas region, violations exceed 40% of the inspections," emphasizing the agency's focus on preventing tax evasion and its readiness to undertake comprehensive revision actions where needed.
