Bulgaria’s public backs Sofia to host Eurovision 2027

A poll commissioned by Alpha Research surveyed 800 adults in May 2026 and found that 57% of Bulgarians are confident the country will organise the Eurovision Song Contest successfully in 2027, while only 7% expect major problems. The same poll showed that 59% of respondents favour Sofia as the host city, with Burgas (15%), Plovdiv (9%) and Varna (8%) trailing.

Respondents highlighted the expected benefits of hosting: 72% said it would improve Bulgaria’s image abroad, 63% saw a boost for tourism, 39% anticipated positive effects for local business, 33% expected better city infrastructure and 31% believed it would help artists and creators. The host right follows Bulgaria’s 2026 victory, when the group Dara won with “Bangaranga” and earned the nation the right to stage the next edition.

The Bulgarian Ministry of Culture has already announced the start of organisational activities for the 2027 contest.
