Bulgaria's State Audit Office Sends Former NDK Director to Anti‑Corruption Probe

The Bulgarian State Audit Office (Сметната палата) has referred former executive director of the National Congress Center (NDK), Andriana Tatarova, to the Commission for Seizure of Illegally Acquired Property (КОНПИ) over a conflict of interest. Tatarova was dismissed by Culture Minister Evтим Милошев after allegations that she signed a 2024 contract granting exclusive use of Hall 2 to a company owned by her son, in which she also held a shareholding. The audit office explained that a conflict of interest requires a public position, exercised authority, and a private interest that creates a benefit for the official or a related person. It also referred three other officials – Dinco Yanev, Dr. Todor Todorov, and Galin Kanev – for checks on income‑asset compatibility. The Commission for Anti‑Corruption imposed a fine of 5,000 lev and ordered repayment of 476.40 lev; the sanctions were upheld by administrative courts. The audit office has notified the culture minister and КОНПИ for further action.
