Bulgaria's tax authority launches surprise inspections on Black Sea tourism sector

The National Revenue Agency (NAP) has begun a summer control campaign along Bulgaria's Black Sea coast, with operations starting on 29 June. Hundreds of venues—including restaurants, shops, attractions, and parking areas—will be subject to surprise inspections and secret‑shop purchases to curb unjustified price hikes and ensure compliance with tax and social‑security laws.

NAP inspectors will also conduct overt monitoring of sales over longer periods and verify that seasonal workers have proper employment contracts. Consumers are reminded they may withhold payment until a fiscal receipt is issued and can report non‑compliant merchants via the agency’s hotline (0700 18 700 / 02 9859 6801) or email.
