Bulkhead Studios CEO defends rising prices for Wardogs

Bulkhead Studios CEO Joe Brammer is defending a “scaling pricing” model for the multiplayer shooter Wardogs, which has already sold over 2 million copies on PC. The game is currently in Early Access at approximately $40, but the price is scheduled to increase to $49.99 upon the release of version 0.5 and eventually reach $59.99 after two years of development.

Brammer argues that the increases are necessary to ensure the long-term sustainability of the project due to high development costs. He has taken a firm stance toward consumers, stating that if players disagree with the value proposition, they should “please don’t buy it” and instead look for cheaper alternatives.

In addition to the specific strategy for Wardogs, Brammer criticized the broader gaming industry for not raising price ceilings sufficiently. He specifically noted that Rockstar Games missed an opportunity to set a new market standard with Grand Theft Auto 6, suggesting that the title’s $79.99 price point was too low given the scale of modern production costs.
