Bulkhead cites Xbox Series S limitations in Wardogs development
Bulkhead, the developer of Wardogs, has acknowledged that the hardware limitations of the Xbox Series S are impacting game development. During a press conference for the game's second season, CEO Joe Brammer stated that the console's lower-end specifications are a primary reason why the title currently lacks dynamic weather features.
While the team expressed a desire to implement dynamic weather in the future, they must prioritize performance to ensure compatibility. Current weather updates, such as the new rain feature, are designed to be persistent throughout a match rather than changing dynamically to avoid performance drops.
Despite these constraints, Bulkhead noted that developing for the Series S provides a performance benchmark that helps optimize the game for low-end PCs. This approach aims to ensure a wider player base can access the game. The studio also emphasized a long-term development strategy that accounts for console and controller support from the earliest stages of content creation.
