Bulkhead Interactive reviews Steam accounts during recruitment
Bulkhead Interactive, the studio behind the successful first-person shooter Wardogs, has revealed that its recruitment process includes reviewing the Steam accounts of job candidates. CEO Joe Brammer and producer Kane Allard stated that the studio examines the number of hours spent playing FPS games on the Valve platform to identify candidates with a genuine passion for the genre.
Allard noted that this practice helps ensure new hires are dedicated to developing high-quality shooters. Brammer clarified that while a lack of extensive FPS playtime does not make someone a worse developer, it serves as an indicator of their potential attention to detail within the genre. He also mentioned that the studio is investing heavily in anti-cheat systems and seeks to protect that investment by hiring genre-aligned talent.
Following the early access launch of Wardogs, which reached over 428,000 concurrent players, the studio is focusing on developing the game toward a full 1.0 release on consoles. Brammer acknowledged that while they may not satisfy every player's content expectations, the priority remains delivering a high-quality finished product.
