Bull doubles supercomputer production capacity in France

Bull, the French state-owned supercomputer manufacturer, has doubled its monthly production capacity at its Angers factory from 6 racks to 12 racks. The expansion, costing 80 million euros, was inaugurated on October 1, 2026.

The capacity increase allows the facility to assemble major high-performance computing (HPC) systems in parallel. Currently, the plant is working on two major projects: the LUMI-AI system for Finland, valued at approximately 388 million euros, and the Alice Recoque supercomputer for France.

CEO Emmanuel Le Roux reported record order intake for 2026, noting that the company secured 15 of the 18 available EuroHPC tenders. The company's recent growth follows the French government's acquisition of 100% of Bull from Atos in March 2026 for up to 404 million euros. Management indicated that if demand continues to rise, the factory could potentially scale to 24 racks per month by 2027.
