Bullfighter Marco Pérez Gored in Right Thigh at Santander Fair
During the Feria de Santander, Spanish matador Marco Pérez suffered a severe goring to his right thigh while attempting the "suerte suprema" on the second bull of the afternoon. The wound involved two trajectories, penetrating the adductor muscle and reaching the quadriceps area. He was taken to the arena's infirmary, placed under general anaesthesia, received wound cleaning, haemostasis, antibiotics (amoxicillin) and drainage, and was left with a reserved prognosis that prevents him from continuing the event.
The same afternoon featured a series of performances by other bullfighters, including Morante de la Puebla, who received a standing ovation, and Aaron Palacio. The festival highlighted several bulls from the Juan Pedro Domecq ranch, with detailed descriptions of each animal's weight and breed. The incident generated audience discussion over awarding a second ear to Pérez, a request ultimately declined by the fair's president.
