Bullying and teaching methods drive French families toward homeschooling

Reports from France highlight the increasing impact of school bullying and rigid teaching methods on children, leading some families to pursue alternative education.

Singer and presenter Clara Morgane shared on the BANGERZ podcast that she and her husband decided to withdraw their 10-year-old daughter from school. The decision followed several nights of uncontrollable distress caused by what Morgane described as an ‘old-fashioned’ teacher who failed to account for her daughter’s extreme sensitivity, alongside hostility from peers in the playground.

In a separate case in the Perche region, a mother named Sophie is fighting for her 14-year-old daughter, Maëlys, to receive distance learning through the CNED. Maëlys has suffered from repeated verbal abuse and bullying since primary school, leading to severe psychological distress and self-harm. The family reported that school authorities initially dismissed the bullying as normal behavior among children.
