Bulqizë chromium mine accident traps miner in Albania

Around 13:00 on a Tuesday, a 40‑year‑old miner identified as Ilir Kalaveri, a resident of Burrel, fell into a shaft (furnel) at the Tërnovë e Madhe site of the chromium mine in the Bulqizë municipality. He was subsequently covered by a mass of chromium material while working for the private mining company Eternal Security.

Rescue teams and police units arrived at the scene and are conducting an intensive operation to locate and extract the trapped worker. An investigative group has also been launched to examine the circumstances of the accident, including compliance with workplace safety regulations and the mining company's procedures.
