Bumrungrad International Hospital launches holistic Alzheimer’s care model

Bumrungrad International Hospital has introduced a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to Alzheimer’s disease management to address the challenges of an aging society. The model integrates expertise from four medical fields: neurology, geriatric psychiatry, geriatric medicine, and clinical nutrition, covering everything from diagnosis to long-term care.

To improve diagnostic accuracy, the hospital utilizes advanced technologies such as Amyloid PET scans and blood-based biomarkers. While Alzheimer’s currently has no cure, early detection through MRI, blood tests, and cognitive assessments allows for better management of symptoms and the potential use of amyloid-targeting drugs for certain early-stage patients.

This initiative comes as the World Health Organization reports approximately 57 million people living with dementia globally. In Thailand, an estimated 800,000 to 1,000,000 elderly individuals suffer from dementia, a figure expected to rise as the nation enters a super-aged society.
