Bund Deutscher Tierfreunde warns of increased risks during daylight saving time change
The Bund Deutscher Tierfreunde e. V. has issued a warning regarding the upcoming daylight saving time change on October 25, 2026. While most pets react calmly to the shift, the organization notes that animals follow the sun's position rather than clock time, which can lead to increased risks during twilight hours.
As clocks are set back one hour, commuting periods will increasingly coincide with dusk. This poses a significant danger to outdoor cats and wildlife. Drivers are urged to exercise extra caution during these darker periods and are reminded to stop and report any accidents involving animals to prevent suffering and death.
