German police record surge of local accidents, thefts and assaults

Police forces in several German municipalities reported a series of incidents over the past week. In Premich (Bavaria) a 29‑year‑old driver lost control after sneezing, colliding with a truck and lightly injuring two children and the truck driver. Fires broke out in Elkenroth (house fire on two floors) and Aschendorf (barn fire spreading to a residence), causing no injuries but significant property damage estimated at €200,000. Multiple thefts, burglary attempts and vandalism were reported in towns such as Bremen (a man tried to lure children into a tent), Kaiserslautern (knife attack on a 17‑year‑old) and several locations in Bad Kissingen, Schweinfurt, Ennepetal and Dortmund where cars were damaged or stolen. Several hit‑and‑run cases involving motorcyclists, cyclists and motorists were also logged, including a collision in Dorsten where an unidentified rider struck a cyclist and fled. Authorities in each case have opened investigations and are requesting witnesses to come forward.
