Bundestag meeting rooms undergoing 28.3 million euro renovation

The German Bundestag is undergoing a major modernization of its parliamentary group meeting rooms (Fraktionssäle) during the summer recess. According to the Federal Office for Building and Regional Planning (BBR), the project is estimated to cost approximately 28.3 million euros.

The renovation aims to comprehensively upgrade conference and media technology, improve room acoustics, and rectify structural deficiencies. In addition to the meeting rooms, associated press and technical rooms will also be modernized.

Work on the meeting rooms is expected to be completed by the end of the parliamentary summer break in early September. Upgrades to the press rooms are scheduled to continue until the end of the first quarter of 2027. Due to the ongoing construction, some groups, such as the CDU/CSU, have already had to relocate special sessions to the plenary hall.
