Bundeswehr conducts fighter jet exercises at Nuremberg Airport
The German military, Bundeswehr, is conducting the ‘Dispersed Operations’ exercise at Nuremberg Airport from Monday to Friday. The maneuver involves the takeoff and landing of four Eurofighter fighter jets, with a total of 74 planned operations.
The exercise aims to practice defense scenarios by relocating aircraft from the Neuburg an der Donau air base to civilian infrastructure. This strategy is intended to prevent aircraft from becoming concentrated, high-value targets for enemies in a defense case. Additionally, the training focuses on optimizing cooperation between military units and civilian institutions, such as the airport fire department.
To minimize impact, authorities stated that civilian flight operations and noise pollution for local residents will be kept to a minimum. Takeoffs and landings will not occur during the early morning or evening hours. Nuremberg Airport serves as a long-standing backup location for the air force's alert detachment stationed in Neuburg an der Donau.
