Bundeswehr recruit dies during training in Mittenwald

A 23-year-old recruit of the German Bundeswehr has died following a collapse during physical training at the Mittenwald mountain infantry barracks. The incident occurred only a few days after the recruit began his service.

According to the Bundeswehr Mountain Infantry Brigade 23, the individual suffered a sudden weakness. Although medical instructors provided immediate first aid and resuscitation was attempted at the Edelweiß-Kaserne medical center, the recruit later died at a civilian hospital in Garmisch-Partenkirchen in the presence of family members.

The military stated that the incident is being investigated with full vigor in cooperation with the relevant authorities. The training program for mountain infantry is known for being exceptionally physically demanding.
