Bundeswehr removes prepper cache from Karwendel nature reserve
The German Bundeswehr has completed the removal of a prepper cache located in the Karwendel nature reserve in the Bavarian Alps. The cache, which was originally discovered by a hunter in the summer of 2025, consisted of nine blue barrels containing food, clothing, batteries, medication, and other daily necessities.
Due to the difficult terrain, the area was inaccessible to vehicles and the barrels were too heavy to be transported by foot alone. To resolve the issue, approximately 40 soldiers from the specialized mountain troops in Bad Reichenhall utilized 25 pack animals, including mules, horses, and a donkey, to carry the items down steep slopes.
Authorities noted that some of the food supplies found in the barrels had been expired since 2014. The Landratsamt Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen is seeking information regarding the identity of the individual who left the supplies in the protected area.
