Bundeswehr to adopt P13 pistol for mass military equipment
The German Bundeswehr has completed testing for its new standard service pistol, the P13, and is preparing for mass production. The P13 will gradually replace the P8, a military version of the Heckler & Koch USP that has been in service since 1994.
Based on the Czech-made CZ P-10 C OR (Optics-Ready) model, the P13 uses 9×19mm ammunition. The weapon passed final evaluations by the Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support, confirming its suitability for military use. Deliveries are expected to begin in the coming months.
The P13 features a striker-fire system, a departure from the double-action/single-action hammer system of the P8. It offers a consistent trigger pull of approximately 2.3kg, intended to improve accuracy from the first shot. Technical specifications include a 102mm barrel, a 15-round magazine, and a weight of roughly 760g. The pistol is designed with a modular construction, replaceable grips, and an optics-ready design. It will be supplied in a Flat Dark Earth color to reduce infrared signature.
