Bungie announces Destiny 2 content restoration and Marathon updates
Bungie leadership has announced new initiatives aimed at rebuilding community trust following recent layoffs and changes to their game titles. Studio director Poria Torkan and Marathon product manager Josh Dean released a statement emphasizing that the studio is listening to player feedback to improve game quality.
For Destiny 2, Bungie committed to restoring previously removed campaigns, planets, and raids. The studio noted that reintegrating this content is a complex process requiring updates to lighting, combat, and fundamental systems to meet current stability and gameplay standards. This effort is expected to take several months.
Regarding the upcoming title Marathon, the director clarified that the extraction mode will remain a core component of the experience. This reassurance follows community concerns that the introduction of a permanent cooperative mode in the upcoming Symbiosis update might shift the game away from its competitive extraction roots.
