Bungie denies leaks regarding Destiny and Marathon merger

Bungie has officially denied rumors stemming from a recent leak suggesting that its franchises, Destiny and Marathon, would be merged into a single intellectual property or shared universe.

Julia Nardin, the Creative Director for Marathon who has also worked on Destiny, addressed the speculation directly on social media. She clarified that while both games share the company’s DNA, they are intended to remain independent entities, comparing them to “siblings” that are distinct units.

The debunked leak, which originated from discussions on platforms like Reddit and 4chan, also contained unconfirmed claims regarding Marathon’s business model. Specifically, the leak suggested the game might transition to a free-to-play model in December 2026. Bungie has not commented on this specific aspect of the rumors.
