Bungie executive reacts to fan-made Destiny 1 PC demonstration
A fan-led preservation initiative known as Project Golden Age has successfully demonstrated Destiny 1 running on PC in 4K resolution with a 105-degree field of view and performance exceeding 60 FPS. The project utilizes the shadPS4 emulator and recreates parts of the original online infrastructure by analyzing client-server requests to simulate the necessary protocols.
The demonstration, showcased by YouTuber Flummoxed, caught the attention of Josh Deane, Bungie’s Head of Product and General Manager of Marathon. Deane shared the footage on social media, commenting, “Seems like a pretty game, wonder if it will do well...”
While the executive's reaction has sparked speculation among the community regarding a potential official release or remaster, no official announcement has been made by Bungie. The studio has previously stated intentions to invest in the Destiny franchise and restore content to Destiny 2, but has not indicated plans for new material for the original title. The project developers note that the repository focuses on code and documentation rather than distributing game files or firmware.
