Bungie to sublease Bellevue headquarters amid downsizing
Bungie is exploring options to sublease a significant portion of its headquarters in Bellevue, Washington. The facility, which spans approximately 210,984 square feet, includes specialized amenities such as motion capture studios, audio suites, and gaming test rooms.
The move follows a period of significant restructuring and downsizing. Reports indicate that Bungie's workforce has decreased from approximately 1,600 employees following its acquisition by Sony to around 500. This contraction coincides with challenges facing major titles like the ‘Destiny’ series and the project ‘Marathon’.
In a statement, the studio noted that the decision reflects a transition to a ‘digital-first’ model and the effectiveness of remote collaboration. While Bungie intends to maintain a physical office presence in Bellevue, the subleasing of its large campus highlights the company's evolving workplace needs and reduced operational scale.
