Bungie to announce details on Destiny 2 content unvaulting process
Bungie is preparing to release details regarding the gradual unvaulting process for previously removed Destiny 2 content. Product Lead Josh Deane confirmed via social media that the studio will soon provide information on how archived materials will be made available to players again.
Rather than using a traditional roadmap, the team will utilize an iterative communication format to provide updates on the restoration work. This approach aims to avoid committing to fixed release dates that could be disrupted by technical challenges, such as porting legacy code to the current engine version.
The unvaulting initiative follows the controversial 2020 introduction of the Destiny Content Vault (DCV), which removed story campaigns, locations, raids, and PvP maps to reduce client size and simplify maintenance. While a specific catalog of returning content is not expected in the initial update, the focus will be on explaining the technical procedures and progress.
