Bunjevac traditions showcased in Subotica through straw art and Lika heritage

In celebration of the Dužijanca harvest festivities in Subotica, the Croatian Cultural and Educational Society "Matija Gubec" from Tavankuta hosted a cultural exhibition at the Subotica City Hall. The event featured an exhibition of 32 straw paintings, showcasing the unique and indigenous skills of Bačka Croats, alongside miniatures and various straw ornaments.

To highlight the shared origins and connection between the Bunjevci of Bačka and those of Lika, the society invited members of the "Gačanka" Association from Otočac. The guests presented an exhibition titled "Life of Lika Bunjevci on Velebit."

The program also included a tamburica evening in the Subotica square and a selection of the most beautiful young man and woman in traditional Bunjevac folk costumes, held Nikolina Crnković and Mario Kujundžić.
