Bunka-Sai festival celebrates Japanese culture in Petrópolis

The 17th edition of the Bunka-Sai festival is celebrating Japanese culture at the Palácio de Cristal in Petrópolis, Rio de Janeiro. Themed ‘The Seven Gods of Fortune’, the event features a diverse program including dance, music, gastronomy, and workshops such as origami, ikebana, and Japanese language classes.

Martial arts are a central component of the festivities. The Firjan SESI Petrópolis ‘Talentos do Tatame’ project, which provides judo training to vulnerable youth, will perform demonstrations. Other scheduled martial arts displays include Karate, Kenjutsu, Ninjutsu, and Aikido.

Additional attractions include Taiko drumming, cosplay contests, kimono parades, and culinary demonstrations by Senac RJ. The festival concludes with activities such as the Bon Odori dance and a cherry blossom photography contest award ceremony.
