Bunyola historic cross damaged during Sant Mateu festivities

During the Sant Mateu festivities in Bunyola, a historic town cross designated as a Bien de Interés Cultural (BIC) was damaged. The incident occurred when a young man from Esporles attempted to climb the structure during the night, causing it to break. The individual sustained a deep cut to his arm and received medical attention from local police and health services.

Local residents expressed frustration over the damage to the town's heritage. The Consell de Mallorca has dispatched an inspector to assess the condition of the cross and has requested a formal report from the Bunyola City Council regarding the event.
