Bučovice to receive new community housing for people with disabilities
A new community space for people with physical disabilities will be constructed in Bučovice, Czech Republic. The project, which held its symbolic groundbreaking ceremony on October 22, aims to provide housing for 12 individuals across two separate households of six people each.
The single-story, barrier-free facility is designed to promote independence and dignity, allowing residents to live in a natural environment rather than large institutional settings. Each resident will have a private room, and the building will include shared spaces such as a kitchen, dining room, social areas, and a terrace. To ensure energy efficiency and lower operating costs, the facility will utilize heat pumps and photovoltaic power plants.
The estimated cost of the construction is 64.2 million CZK. Approximately 85 percent of the funding is expected to be covered by European funds through the Integrated Regional Operational Programme (IROP), with the remaining 15 percent provided by the South Moravian Region's budget. The project is scheduled for completion by early 2028 and will be managed by the Habrovany Castle regional organization.
