Bupyeong Pungmul Festival marks 30th anniversary in Incheon

The 30th Bupyeong Pungmul Festival has concluded in Incheon, marking three decades of celebrating traditional Korean percussion and folk music. Held from October 2 to 4 at Sintri Park, Bupyeong-daero, and Gulpocheon, the event themed ‘30 Years of Resonance, World Harmony’ brought together residents and international visitors.

Key highlights included a ‘car-free street’ festival on Bupyeong-daero, featuring large-scale performances such as the ‘Daedong Pungmul Hanmadang’. The festival integrated global elements, including Tai Chi and Qipao performances by Chinese tourists. To engage diverse age groups, organizers hosted a drone lighting show, a student Pungmul competition, a children's wrestling contest, and a ‘Bupyeong Pungmul Rave’ aimed at younger audiences.

A special photo exhibition showcased 60 historical photographs and 3,000 slides documenting the festival's 30-year history.
