Burahya County wins fifth Tooro Kingdom MTN Amasaza Cup

Burahya County secured the fifth edition of the Tooro Kingdom MTN Amasaza Cup after defeating Mwenge South in a penalty shootout. The final, held at Uganda Technical College Kichwamba, ended in a 1-1 draw during regulation time before Burahya emerged victorious with a 3-0 win on penalties.

This victory marks Burahya’s second title in the competition, following their 2024 championship. The tournament, which featured nine teams representing various counties in the Tooro Kingdom, included both football and women’s netball. The football champions received Shs15 million, an increase from the Shs12 million awarded in the previous year.

The competition had previously faced interruptions following the death of former Tooro monarch Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru IV in August 2026. Play resumed in October after consultations with the new monarch, Omukama Edward Rukidi Nyabongo I.
