Burckhardt Compression secures semiconductor hydrogen orders

Burckhardt Compression has received orders for membrane compressor units designed to provide ultra-high purity hydrogen for the semiconductor industry. The projects, facilitated through an industrial gas provider, will supply production sites in Taiwan and South Korea.

The technology is intended to increase hydrogen pressure following a purification system, ensuring the process gas stream meets the stringent requirements of modern chip manufacturing. This expansion allows the company to enter a new market segment by combining gas-tight membrane technology with high-purity requirements to prevent contamination in downstream semiconductor processes.

Separately, HOLBORN Europa Raffinerie and Hamburger Energienetze have signed an agreement to connect the Hamburg-Harburg refinery to the Hamburg Hydrogen Industrial Network (HH-WIN). The connection is intended to supply a Green Diesel Production complex starting in 2028, which aims to produce approximately 220,000 tonnes annually of Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) and Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF).
