Burdur State Hospital surgeons remove 13-centimeter mass

Surgeons at Burdur State Hospital successfully removed a 13-centimeter mass from a 30-year-old patient, Veli Kapan, following unsuccessful diagnostic attempts at facilities in Antalya and Isparta.

The mass was located behind the bladder, exerting pressure on the urinary tract, the final section of the large intestine, and the main vein and artery leading to the right leg. This condition caused chronic abdominal pain, swelling, digestive difficulties, and significant weight loss.

A multidisciplinary surgical team, including General Surgery Specialist Dr. Öğr. Üyesi Kenan Demirbakan and Urology Specialists Dr. Öğr. Üyesi Sabri Aydemir and Dr. Kaan Çömez, performed the six-hour operation. The mass was completely removed without complications. Following the procedure, the patient's health stabilized, and he was discharged after showing signs of recovery and improved nutrition.
