Bureau of Customs advances modernization and integrity initiatives

The Philippine Bureau of Customs (BOC) is intensifying its modernization agenda to enhance transparency, accountability, and trade competitiveness. Commissioner Ariel F. Nepomuceno highlighted the importance of digital transformation, specifically through the Customs Processing System (CPS). This electronic platform aims to streamline document submission, assessment, payment, and cargo release, thereby reducing face-to-face transactions and improving operational efficiency.

To support these reforms, the BOC has entered into a formal partnership with the Philippine Chamber of Customs Brokers, Inc. (PCCBI). Signed by Commissioner Nepomuceno and PCCBI National President Atty. Norberto Castillo, the agreement seeks to institutionalize the ‘Integrity, Accountability, and Modernization (IAM) BOC Movement.’

The collaboration will extend reform efforts to customs brokers, industry professionals, and educational institutions. Key initiatives include ethics and professional development programs designed to promote integrity and transformational change across customs ports and PCCBI chapters nationwide.
