Burg hosts 32nd Heimat- und Trachtenfest celebrating regional traditions

The 32nd Heimat- und Trachtenfest is scheduled to take place in Burg from August 28 to 30. The event serves as a gathering for supporters of the Spreewald region, local traditions, and Wendish culture.

Activities include a craft and fairground market, a ‘Market of Traditions’ where artisans demonstrate techniques such as embroidery and net knitting, and various musical performances. The program features cultural highlights from traditional associations in Burg, Schmogrow, Cottbus, and Bärenbrück.

Key events include a Wendish church service on Sunday morning, the traditional ‘Hahnrupfen’ performed by the Burger Domowina youth, and a large festival parade at 2:00 PM. The parade aims to showcase the regional diversity and the long-standing traditions of the Spreewald fishing community.
