Burgas and Sofia vie for Eurovision 2027 host city

Bulgaria is deciding which city will host the Eurovision Song Contest in 2027. The capital Sofia and the Black Sea resort Burgas are the final two candidates after an initial round that eliminated other locations.

Sofia’s bid highlights its international airport, extensive hotel capacity, a multifunctional arena and experience hosting large events, including the Junior Eurovision in 2015. Burgas argues its strong tourism profile, a modern airport serving over 70 direct destinations in 2026, and a history of major concerts and festivals.

The selection committee will assess technical specifications, rehearsal facilities, security, transport links and the ability of the host city to manage months of production for the live broadcast. Winning the bid is expected to bring significant tourism, business benefits and international exposure for the chosen city.
