Burgas court official arrested in large credit‑fraud scheme

Police in Burgas, Bulgaria, detained a serving member of the judicial council who had been posing as a magistrate. Using victims’ personal data, he obtained numerous bank loans, causing damages exceeding €100,000 and affecting at least ten people.

Investigators seized computers, mobile phones and identity documents from two locations. One victim was found to have 21 loans totalling about €50,000. Authorities said the scheme involved online and telephone contacts, with perpetrators promising assistance in financial, real‑estate and legal matters. The probe remains ongoing and the total number of victims may rise.
