Burgas Election Official Removed for Intoxication

The Chairperson of a local election commission in the village of Izgrev, Tsarevo municipality, has been removed from their position following reports of intoxication. The decision was made by the Regional Election Commission (RIC) in Burgas after an inspection confirmed the individual exhibited slurred speech, inappropriate behavior, and an indifference toward the electoral process.

Reports indicate that the chairperson appeared to be under the influence of alcohol while transporting commission members to the polling station. During the inspection, officials also discovered that alcohol had been brought into the polling station room. Consequently, the RIC dismissed the chairperson, invalidated their credentials, and appointed new leadership for both the chairperson and deputy chairperson positions.

In a separate technical matter within the Burgas region, two voting machines failed to operate due to printer and reader malfunctions, necessitating a shift to paper ballots in those specific sections.
