Burgas introduces electric ramps for beach accessibility
The Municipality of Burgas has implemented new accessibility measures at the Northern Beach and Kraymorie Beach to assist individuals with limited mobility. The initiative includes the installation of two electric mobile ramps designed as platforms to allow easier and more independent access to the sea.
In addition to the electric ramps, the project provides 20 specialized beach wheelchairs to help people navigate the sand. Burgas Mayor Dimitar Nikolov noted that the locations for these facilities were carefully selected to ensure a seamless route from parking areas and existing wooden walkways to the water's edge.
The electric drive system on the ramps is intended to improve maneuverability and user autonomy. This investment, supported by European funding, aims to set a standard for other Black Sea municipalities to follow.
