Burgas Municipality cleans 39km of riverbeds and canals

Burgas Municipality has completed the cleaning of approximately 39 kilometers of riverbeds, ravines, and drainage canals in critical areas to prevent flooding during heavy rainfall. The maintenance aims to increase and maintain the hydraulic conductivity of watercourses.

Specialized machinery was used for most areas, while manual cleaning was conducted by inmates in more difficult-to-access locations. Completed sections include the Severno Dere in the Lozovo district, parts of the Marinka River, the Otmanliyska River, and the Izgrevsko Dere. Cleaning activities also covered drainage canals near Lake Vaya and various riverbeds in neighborhoods such as Rudnik, Cherno More, and Dolno Ezerovo, as well as several surrounding villages.

The cleaning operations are scheduled to continue through the end of November.
