Burgas region declares readiness for winter season

Municipalities and institutions in the Burgas region have declared full preparedness for the upcoming winter season. During a meeting of the Regional Council for Disaster Risk Reduction, led by Regional Governor Diko Dikov, officials reviewed preventive measures, technical equipment, and inter-agency coordination.

All municipalities in the region, in cooperation with the Regional Road Management, have signed contracts with specialized companies for the maintenance of municipal and republican road networks. Necessary supplies of salt, sand, and anti-icing materials have been secured, and snow removal machinery has undergone technical inspections.

Special attention is being given to vulnerable populations. Updated lists of patients requiring periodic hemodialysis and pregnant women in the pre-delivery stage have been prepared. In the event of severe weather, specialized high-mobility vehicles will be used to ensure their transport to medical facilities.

Emergency services, including fire departments, the Ministry of Interior, emergency medical services, and utility providers, are on high alert. Some municipalities noted that rising costs for fuel and maintenance are putting financial pressure on local budgets, suggesting a need for increased state subsidies for winter maintenance.
