Burgas to host book presentation on Metropolitan Simeon

The Regional Historical Museum in Burgas and the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences will present the monograph ‘Metropolitan Simeon of Varna and Preslav and the Bulgarian National Revival’ on November 5, 2026.

Authored by Associate Professor Dimitar Hristov of the Institute for Historical Research, the book examines the life and activities of Metropolitan Simeon (1840–1937). The research positions the cleric as both a participant in and a witness to the historical events of the Bulgarian National Revival era.

The study utilizes authentic historical documents and archival materials, some of which are being introduced into scientific discourse for the first time. Beyond a biographical sketch, the work addresses broader historical questions regarding the cleric's contribution to Bulgarian history and the preservation of national memory.
