Burgenland infrastructure projects cause rail and road closures

Extensive modernization and maintenance works in Burgenland, Austria, are causing significant disruptions to rail and road networks. The Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) is investing approximately two million euros to upgrade the Wulkaprodersdorf Rathausgasse stop and several railway crossings between Wulkaprodersdorf and Schützen am Gebirge. Key improvements include extending and making platforms barrier-free to accommodate longer trains, as well as renewing lighting and loudspeaker systems.

Rail service on the Pannoniabahn will face various closures and replacement bus services between Wulkaprodersdorf, Neusiedl am See, and Eisenstadt-Schule from late October through December 4. Additionally, road closures are scheduled in Eisenstadt on Ruster Straße and near Eisenstadt-Langäcker, as well as in Wulkaprodersdorf on Rathausgasse.

In a separate infrastructure development, a new 400-space Park-&-Ride facility, ‘Gewerbepark’, has opened at the Wulkaprodersdorf station. This 12.6 million euro project includes 200 additional parking spaces, electric charging stations, and a 78-meter barrier-free pedestrian tunnel.
