Burger King sees sales growth following Whopper revamp

Burger King is experiencing a resurgence in U.S. sales following a strategic overhaul of its signature Whopper burger. The chain reported a 8.5 percent year-on-year sales increase in the last financial quarter, outperforming McDonald’s 2.5 percent growth and Wendy’s 6.5 percent decline during the same April-June period.

The turnaround is attributed to the hiring of head chef Amy Alarcon, who previously led the development of the viral chicken sandwich at Popeyes. Alarcon implemented the first major changes to the Whopper in nearly a decade, introducing a premium brioche bun, creamier mayonnaise, and a specialized box designed to maintain the burger's shape.

Burger King, owned by Restaurant Brands International, currently operates just under 7,000 locations in the United States.
