Burger King to launch new chicken nuggets in menu overhaul
Burger King is launching a new chicken nugget recipe in the United States starting September 1 as part of a multiyear menu reinvention strategy. The overhaul follows thousands of consumer complaints describing the previous nuggets as “rubbery,” “dry,” and “disappointing.”
The updated product will feature all-white meat, a crispier breading, and an improved marinade. The launch includes a revamped sauce lineup featuring honey mustard, buffalo, sweet and sour, and a limited-time “special savory sauce.” Prices are expected to range from approximately $1.99 for four pieces to $7.49 for 20 pieces.
This shift toward poultry comes as the fast-food industry faces rising beef prices and increasing consumer demand for chicken as a perceived healthier alternative to red meat. The menu changes follow a successful revamp of the Whopper, which contributed to an 8.5% increase in U.S. same-store sales last quarter, allowing Burger King to surpass Wendy's as the second-largest burger chain in the country.
