Burgos hosts I Bienal de Burgos contemporary art biennial
The I Bienal de Burgos, titled ‘Afluente Panorama’, has transformed the city of Burgos into a hub for contemporary creation. The event features works created specifically for the biennial by 38 artists representing 21 different countries.
Running until January 10, 2027, the exhibition utilizes various public spaces, including museums, cultural centers, and shops, as well as abandoned locations and the banks of the Arlanzón River. The initiative aims to integrate modern artistic expressions with the city’s extensive historical heritage, which includes UNESCO World Heritage sites such as the Cathedral, the Camino de Santiago, and the Atapuerca sites.
Emilio Navarro, the director of the biennial, stated that the goal is to demonstrate how art and creativity are much closer to society than previously thought. The event provides a global perspective on contemporary art through diverse international viewpoints.
