Burkina Faso agricultural campaign shows positive growth in Nando region

The 2026 agricultural campaign in the Nando region of Burkina Faso, specifically within the Boulkiemdé and Sanguié provinces, is showing positive development despite an irregular rainy season. Farmers report satisfactory growth across various crops, including maize, millet, sorghum, cowpea, peanuts, and sesame.

In Sikoro, producers are utilizing hybrid seeds and organic fertilizers to boost yields. One farmer noted that while hybrid seeds are expensive, they offer higher productivity, with potential yields of up to 40 bags of maize per hectare. Similarly, in the Sanguié province, farmers are combining chemical fertilizers with self-produced compost to enrich the soil.

Agricultural officials and local producers express optimism for the upcoming harvest. In the Zoula area, successful cultivation techniques are helping crops like maize and cowpea reach maturity, with regional expectations for significant cereal production.
