Algeria reports strong hydrocarbon revenues and targets 2030 energy investment goals

Algeria is reporting significant growth in its energy and non-hydrocarbon sectors. Hydrocarbon export revenues reached 37.5 billion dollars by the end of the third quarter of 2026, bolstered by an average crude oil price of nearly 97 dollars per barrel, a 37 percent increase over 2025.

Minister of Hydrocarbons Mohamed Arkab outlined a development program aiming for over 71 billion dollars in sector investments by 2030. This strategy includes strengthening exploration through the 'Algeria Bid Round 2026' and expanding international partnerships with companies such as Eni, Repsol, and Sinopec. In the gas market, Turkey remains the primary client for Algerian liquefied natural gas (LNG), importing 700,000 tonnes in Q3 2026.

Parallel to energy gains, non-hydrocarbon exports rose approximately 10 percent, reaching nearly 4 billion dollars during the first eight months of 2026. The government has set a target of 5 billion dollars for these exports by the end of the year. President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has designated 2027 as a pivotal year for the nation's economic transformation, focusing on increasing local production and reducing import dependency.
